The COMMIT Process is gearing up for its Senior Officials and Inter-Ministerial Meeting (COMMIT SOM/IMM) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia next week, and so is UN-ACT as the COMMIT Secretariat.
In what promises to be an action-packed 3 days (28-30 April), COMMIT governments will adopt a new framework agreement (SPAIV) for their joint work over the next four years; discuss with civil society and youth about their support in the implementation of SPAIV; explore the media’s and the private sector’s role in anti-trafficking; and much more!
The regional COMMIT Youth Forum (27-30 April) involving 28 youth selected by their peers in all COMMIT countries, and a regional Civil Society Platform (27 April) bringing together NGOs working in anti-trafficking in the Mekong countries will also be convening in Phnom Penh before joining SOM/IMM.
In addition, a number of exciting side events will take place, including an exhibition of pictures from “No One Should Work This Way“. This fantastic photo documentary project by Steve McCurry and Karen Emmons illustrates the abuse often suffered by migrant domestic workers at the hands of their employers.
The media advisory for the event, which is expected to welcome some 500 delegates from governments, UN agencies, CSOs and the donor community, has gone out to national as well as international media and can be accessed here.

UNDP is recruiting a new Regional Project Manager (RPM) for UN-ACT. Reporting to the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub Manager, the RPM provides strategic leadership and support to the timely achievement of project results and delivery of project outputs, through a consultative participatory approach that fosters a sense of ownership for key project stakeholders.
In more detail, the RPM is responsible for:
Providing quality assurance of project results and managing overall M&E;
Positioning the project at the cutting edge of knowledge-development and knowledge-sharing relating to trafficking in persons;
Supporting external outreach, development advocacy and communications; and
Coordinating and negotiating with UN partner agencies to ensure that the project maintains a UN-system approach and multi-disciplinary framework in achieving the objectives outlined in the project document.
The RPM supervises approximately 30 staff at the regional level and in the country project offices.
