Cambodia: Men being exploited, trafficked too
This article illustrates the realities of a type of trafficking/slavery that is not so well-known: the labor trafficking and exploitation of men.
The details about their deception and abuse, and the voices of actual victims, provide advocates with something to rally around, to get the issue higher on policy and donor agendas.
To date, male victims of trafficking still do not receive proper protections under many legal frameworks, and services to male victims of trafficking is extremely poorly funded. There are many hotspots of male labor trafficking in our region (and elsewhere in the world) where men are flatly rejected by service providers because they are not women or children, despite suffering similar abuses.
