Phase III Goals
Key functions of UNIAP
in Phase III can be summarized as:
- Inter-agency strategic and operational coordination, at the regional and country levels;
- Information sharing and analysis on trafficking patterns, trends, and programs, including through the new SIREN initiative;
- High-quality technical assistance in various anti-trafficking interventions – to government agencies, UN partners, NGO and CBO partners, and others both in and outside of the GMS;
- Capacity building of civil society, national, and international partners, both in and outside of the GMS;
- Support to the development and piloting of innovative responses to new and emerging issues.
UNIAP Phase III aims to make a tangible and sustained impact on human trafficking in the Great Mekong Sub-region (GMS) through continued advancement of a more cohesive, strategic and incisive response.
To achieve this goal, UNIAP is:
- Capitalizing on its previous success in bringing together governments, UN agencies, and other development partners, notably through the COMMIT Process;
- Building on and enhancing other existing achievements of the anti-trafficking sector;
- Further improving cooperation within and between countries and partners;
- Improving targeting of resources and expertise; and
- Promoting dissemination and application of the latest in good practices and lessons from throughout the world.
