UNIAP is conducting an analysis of the structure and effectiveness of existing bilateral cooperation agreements/mechanisms relating to human trafficking in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, and will be releasing a SIREN analysis outlining key findings and good practice.
With several new anti-trafficking laws in Southeast Asia that provide for the identification of male victims of trafficking (in line with the Palermo Protocol), UNIAP is conducting an analysis of different models of shelter and services to male victims of trafficking around the world, and their possible applicability and appropriateness in Southeast Asia. The next two reports in the Raids, Rescues, Resolution SIREN series will be generated by the UK Police (Operation Pentameter II) and NGO International Justice Mission (IJM) , analyzing Operation Pentameter II as a large-scale operational case study, as well as risk assessment frameworks and contingencies for rescue operations. An analysis of vulnerability factors in Lao PDR is being conducted now, and a SIREN report will be generated with the aim of informing trafficking prevention and poverty alleviation interventions in the area on how their programs might be improved or better targeted to address trafficking risk and vulnerability.
